Sandal Wedding Photographer
Wedding photography for couples in Sandal and the south side of Wakefield, from a local photographer who knows the area inside out.

The south side of the city
Sandal is one of Wakefield’s best-loved suburbs, with leafy streets, good schools and a lot of couples who grew up there and want to marry close to home. It also has two things a wedding photographer loves: history and green space.
Sandal Castle
The ruins of Sandal Castle sit on a mound above the Calder valley, close to where the Battle of Wakefield was fought in 1460. On a clear evening the views stretch for miles, and the old stonework makes a dramatic backdrop for a short portrait session. Pugneys Country Park is just below, with its lake and open paths, if you’d like something softer.

Venues nearby
The Holmfield Arms on Lowe Hill is a short drive away, a handsome stone lodge in open parkland that hosts just one wedding a day. I photographed Jaysie and Michael’s wedding there, and Tom and Mary held their reception there after a ceremony at Wakefield Town Hall.
