Close enough to know the area

Castleford is about fifteen minutes from my front door, so I’m never a stranger to a Cas wedding. It’s a proud rugby league town where the Aire and Calder meet, the birthplace of Henry Moore, and somewhere people tend to celebrate loudly. That suits me fine. The best wedding pictures come from days where people let their guard down.

What I bring to a Castleford wedding

  • One photographer, start to finish: me
  • A planning chat over coffee and a written plan for the day
  • A venue visit the week before to find the best spots
  • Every image edited three ways: black and white, film-style and a bold colour look

Ceremony and portrait ideas around Castleford

The riverside and the Millennium Bridge make a striking backdrop for portraits, and Queen’s Park gives you trees and open lawns without travelling far. If you’re marrying at a register office in Pontefract or Wakefield and celebrating back in Cas, I’ll plan the timings so the travel doesn’t eat into your pictures.

For a feel of how I work in town halls and smaller venues, see Jade and Stephanie’s wedding at Pontefract Town Hall, just down the road.

Neighbouring towns

I also cover Pontefract, Normanton and Wakefield, all within easy reach of home.

A typical Castleford wedding day

Many of the Castleford weddings I’m asked about follow a familiar pattern: getting ready at home, a ceremony at a register office or local church, then a big, noisy reception with family who’ve lived within a mile of each other for generations. I start with the getting-ready, when nerves and excitement are running high, and stay through the speeches and the first dance, when everyone finally relaxes.

If there’s a family group you’ll regret not getting, a grandparent or a cousin flying in from abroad, tell me at our planning chat. I’ll make sure that picture happens, even if it means grabbing them quietly between courses.

Your pictures, three ways

Each photo you receive comes as a deep, contrasty black and white, a warm vintage film edit and a vivid colour version. Couples often end up printing a mix: mono for the emotional moments and colour for the party.
