Amzy and Kevin’s story didn’t begin in Wakefield at all — the two of them fell in love while Kevin was working out in South Asia on a construction project, and their relationship grew steadily from there, long distance at first, before eventually bringing them both home to build a life together. It made choosing the right venue for their wedding all the more meaningful, and they landed on one of the very best wedding venues in Wakefield: Waterton Hall.
The Historic Setting
Walton Hall, the beautiful Georgian mansion at the heart of the Waterton Hall estate, sits on its own island, surrounded by a 26-acre lake and reached only by a striking wrought iron footbridge. The hall takes its name from the 19th-century naturalist Charles Waterton, who once lived here and turned the surrounding parkland into the world’s first nature reserve — a real piece of history that still shapes the grounds today. Restored beautifully over the years, it’s easily one of the most romantic and distinctive settings for a wedding anywhere in the region.
Amzy and Kevin couldn’t have asked for a better day for it either — the weather was glorious, and with the lake, the woodland, and the golf course all catching the light, there was no shortage of stunning backdrops for their photographs.
Family and Friends by the Water
Guests crossed the iron bridge to join the celebrations, and the island setting gave the whole day a wonderfully exclusive, self-contained feel — as though, for one afternoon, the whole place belonged to Amzy and Kevin and everyone they’d invited to share it with them. After everything the two of them had been through to get there, it was a joy to photograph a day so full of warmth, family, and finally, home.
Into the Evening
As the sun dropped over the lake, the celebrations carried on into the evening, with dancing and laughter lasting long after dark. It was a wedding that truly made the most of everything Waterton Hall has to offer — history, romance, and a setting that couldn’t have suited Amzy and Kevin’s story any better.
