Arriving at Hatfeild Hall

There’s a reason Hatfeild Hall is one of the most requested venues around Wakefield, and you feel it the moment you turn onto the drive. A long, tree-lined approach runs alongside the golf course, building the anticipation before the Georgian manor house even comes into view — and when it does, guests notice. There’s always that same collective reaction: a widened eye, a phone reaching for a photo, before anyone’s even through the door.

That was the setting Rachel and Anthony chose for their wedding, and it gave the whole day a real sense of occasion from the very first arrival.

Georgian Grandeur, Modern Comfort

After the ceremony, we headed out to photograph the couple with their wedding car, making the most of the July light, before travelling to nearby Pontefract Castle for a few portraits. The castle’s dramatic ruins — steeped in centuries of history and one of Yorkshire’s most striking landmarks — made for a stunning backdrop, a real contrast to the elegance of the Town Hall ceremony earlier in the day.

Inside, the grand interiors gave us plenty to work with for the formal portraits, while the manicured grounds outside were perfect for the more relaxed shots — Rachel and Anthony stealing a few quiet minutes together away from the room, the light catching the gardens behind them.

Family and Friends

Back inside, the day belonged to the people who came to celebrate with them — family finding their seats, old friends reuniting for the first time in months, and that unmistakable warmth that builds through a room once everyone’s arrived and the day is properly under way. It’s always the guests, as much as the couple, who make a venue like Hatfeild Hall feel completely alive.

An Evening to Remember

As the light faded outside, the grounds and the golf course beyond took on a different mood entirely, and the celebrations carried on inside long into the night. It was a wedding that made full use of everything Hatfeild Hall has to offer — history, elegance, and space enough for everyone who mattered to Rachel and Anthony to be part of the day.
