A Hidden Gem in Ossett

Dimple Well Lodge is one of those venues that surprises people the first time they see it — tucked away in Ossett, easy to miss from the road, and then suddenly you’re walking through ivy-clad walls into beautifully kept gardens. Originally a Victorian manor house, it’s been carefully turned into a boutique wedding venue that keeps hold of its historic charm while giving couples everything they need for a modern celebration.

It was exactly the kind of setting Lorraine and Mick were after — intimate rather than sprawling, with enough character in every corner that the venue itself became part of their story.

The Gardens and That Red Phone Box

The lodge’s gardens were the real star of the day — vibrant flower beds, picturesque archways, and quiet corners that gave us plenty of scope for the couple’s portraits. One of my favourite spots on the grounds is the old rustic red phone box tucked among the greenery, a lovely bit of vintage charm that’s become a firm favourite for guests, and it made for a couple of really memorable, playful shots of Lorraine and Mick together.

We also spent time under the ivy-draped archway, which has to be one of the most romantic backdrops on the whole property — the kind of detail that makes a portrait feel timeless rather than just another wedding photo.

An Intimate Celebration

Because Dimple Well Lodge keeps things on a smaller, more personal scale, the day never felt rushed. Guests mixed easily, conversations carried on from one part of the garden to the next, and there was a genuine warmth in the room that comes from a wedding where everyone actually knows everyone. Candid moments — a shared laugh, a quiet aside between Lorraine and Mick — were everywhere you looked.

Into the Evening

As the light dropped, the gardens took on a softer glow and the celebrations moved indoors, where the reception room carried the same vintage-meets-modern feel as the rest of the lodge. It was a wedding that made the most of an unusual, characterful venue, and a day shaped entirely around Lorraine and Mick and the people closest to them.
