Photographer’s notes: Pontefract Town Hall
Venue at a glance
- Where: The market place, Pontefract
- Listed: Grade II
- Ceremony room: The Nelson Room
- Real wedding: Jade & Stephanie, 2pm in July
The Nelson Room has a story guests love: its plaster frieze was used in the making of Nelson’s Column. It’s a handsome room with plenty of character and a real sense of occasion.
Best photo spots: the Nelson Room itself, the town hall steps onto the market place, and Pontefract Castle a few minutes away for dramatic couple portraits among the ruins.
My tip: the castle is a short hop from the town hall. Build fifteen to twenty minutes into the timeline between the ceremony and the reception and you’ll get some of your favourite photos of the day.
