Halfway between two cities
Rothwell sits neatly between Leeds and Wakefield, which means couples here have the pick of venues in both. It’s ten or fifteen minutes from me, and I photograph weddings on both sides of it regularly.
Oulton Hall and nearby venues
Oulton Hall, the grand country house hotel on the edge of Rothwell, is the area’s best-known wedding venue, with formal gardens that are made for portraits. Closer to Leeds, I’ve photographed Adam and Laura at New Craven Hall, the former Vox warehouse turned wedding venue, and Amber and Scott, who married at All Saints in Sherburn in Elmet with a reception at the Holiday Inn Garforth.
Parks and portraits
Springhead Park in Rothwell has old trees and open lawns for a relaxed session, and the ruins of Rothwell Castle add a bit of history if you fancy something different.
